support@budget-kit.comFrequently Asked Questions
- How do I connect my bank accounts?
- BudgetKit uses SimpleFIN to import transactions automatically. In the app, go to Settings → Connections and follow the steps to add your SimpleFIN access token.
- Is my financial data safe?
- Yes. All your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. We never sell your information or share it with advertisers.
- How do I set a budget?
- Go to the Budgets tab and tap "Set budget" next to any spending category, then enter your monthly limit. BudgetKit will track your progress against that limit as transactions come in. You can also tap "Copy last month" to carry over your previous budgets.
- Can I add transactions manually?
- Yes. Tap the "+" button in the Transactions view to add a transaction manually. You can specify the payee, amount, category, account, date, and an optional memo.
- Why is SimpleFIN not showing all my transactions?
- SimpleFIN typically provides 90 days of transaction history on first sync. If you're missing transactions, verify that your bank is fully supported by SimpleFIN and try refreshing the connection in Settings → Connections.
- What is SimpleFIN?
- SimpleFIN is a privacy-focused bank aggregator that lets BudgetKit import your transactions and balances without ever storing your banking credentials. You generate a one-time access token from your bank's website and share only that token with BudgetKit.
- How does transaction categorization work?
- BudgetKit automatically categorizes your transactions as they come in. If you want more control, you can create custom rules in the app — for example, always categorizing a specific merchant as Groceries or renaming a payee. Rules can match on merchant name, description, amount, and more.
- How do I cancel my subscription?
- Subscriptions are managed through the App Store. To cancel, open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad, tap your name → Subscriptions, find BudgetKit, and tap Cancel Subscription.
- Can I use BudgetKit on multiple devices?
- Yes. Your data is stored in your account and syncs across all devices you sign in to. Just download the app and log in with the same account.
- How do I set up two-factor authentication?
- Email-based two-factor authentication is enabled by default. To add an authenticator app (TOTP) or manage backup codes, go to Settings → Security → Two-Factor Authentication. You can enable or disable any method, including email, from that screen.
- How do I delete my account and data?
- You can request account deletion at any time from within the app by navigating to Settings → Delete Account. After confirming, a deletion request is submitted and your account and all associated data will be permanently deleted after a minimum 24-hour grace period. You may cancel the request within that window by contacting us at support@budget-kit.com. You can also request deletion by emailing support@budget-kit.com if you are unable to access the app.
